We have had an exciting, yet busy, week here at the parish with our iconographer John Filippakis, who is working tirelessly on adding to our existing iconography.
By the grace of God, we received several generous and anonymous donations to fully fund the work currently being installed – not even “one cent” of our operation dollars were touched. In addition, we had a terrific crew of hard-working men gather to install the scaffolding to enable the installation of such beautiful work. Glory to God.
John spent this week working on the installation of murals depicting two of the Great Feasts in the Orthodox Church:
Once completed, these stunning icons will beautifully compliment the existing ones depicting theNativity and Theophany of Christ, which will be readjusted to maintain the historical-chronological order these universe-altering events occurred (i.e. Annunciation, Nativity, Meeting in the Temple, Theophany).
On Wednesday, the Naples Daily News spent the morning learning about our parish and observing John’s work in the ancient tradition of Byzantine Iconography.
